The IRC is pleased to invite you to an online panel event discussing the impact of Covid-19, displacement and gender discrimination on women affected by crisis. Taking place on Thursday 21st October from 14:00 – 15:00 BST and moderated by Minouche Shafik, Director of the LSE, the event will bring together experts to identify the critical steps needed to ensure that policy and finance responds to the needs and priorities emerging from the pandemic. We will be exploring evidence from a new report jointly authored by ODI and the IRC on the impacts of Covid-19 on the economic empowerment of women. The event will include perspectives from the IRC's Resilient Futures programming in Greece, Jordan and Nigeria, which informed this research. Resilient Futures and the report are supported by the Citi Foundation. Lastly, the discussion will explore how the humanitarian sector and wider donor community can more effectively support women's economic inclusion in crisis and humanitarian settings. We have an exciting line up of speakers including:
• Pippa Bird, Head of Development in Jordan, FCDO
• Abigail Hunt, Research Follow, ODI
• Joyce Osiango, Entrepreneur
• Sarra Ghazi, IRC Jordan Country Director
With opening remarks by Nour Jarrar, CCO Citi Jordan, and closing remarks from David Miliband, IRC President and CEO.
Register now and circulate with others who may be interested.
