The Symposium provides a great launching pad for SEEP's Tipping the Scales series. Sessions on history will help you understand, think about, and set the context for shifting power. Personal, lived experiences will be shared to deepen understanding and strengthen connections. Case studies will be presented to learn about what other people are trying and doing to change underlying systems. We encourage the SEEP Network to boost its knowledge and draw inspiration from the Symposium to prepare for the Tipping the Scales series.
The 2021 Posner Center Symposium will convene global and local development leaders, practitioners, researchers, academics, activists, policymakers, and supporters looking to focus on anti-racism in development work, diversify the global development field, and have a more equitable impact that begins to repair past and current injustices.
We will spend time collaborating and learning about ways we can disrupt deeply-rooted imperialist power structures and assumptions that are still embedded in our development work and re-imagine more just approaches for global impact.
The Symposium program rolls out over the first three weeks of November. We’ve got sessions on history that will help you understand, think about, and set the context for decolonization. There will be sessions sharing personal, lived experiences to deepen understanding and strengthen connections. We’ll have case studies so you can hear about what other people are trying and doing and learning to change our underlying systems and the development sector itself. Some sessions will dive into a particular sector, region, system, or practice area and others will tie it all back together. You can join one or all or as many as you wish.
Check out the program topics and schedule.
The Symposium is bringing together diverse points of view from around the world to focus on shifting power, diversity, and decolonization in social impact and global development work. Our speakers are joining from 15 countries and 10 different states to share their experiences, ideas and lead a rich collage of discussions.
