Jan 7, 2010 | by Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies
The only global tool that articulates the minimum level of educational quality and access in emergencies through to recovery, the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) Minimum standards for Education: Preparedness, Response, Recovery covers all domains of educational response from access and safety of learners, to the development of curricula and the role of teachers. Each of its 19 standards is accompanied by key actions and guidance notes.
The Handbook aims to
enhance the quality of educational preparedness, response and recovery;
increase access to safe and relevant learning opportunities for all learners, regardless of their age, gender or abilities; and
ensure accountability and strong coordination in the provision of education in emergencies through to recovery.
Originally developed in 2004 and updated in 2010, the INEE Handbook has been used in over 80 countries to strengthen education preparedness, response and recovery.
