Hosted by the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda (AMIR), the International Conference on Responsible and Inclusive Finance will bring together leading practitioners, financial inclusion experts, government representatives and others dedicated to promoting the international responsible and inclusive finance agenda by providing learning opportunities for a range of actors about experiences within and outside of Rwanda.
Conference topics will be organized around the three main dimensions of the financial inclusion space: the environment, the financial services providers (FSPs) and the clients. This conference will give participants an opportunity to share best practices and learn about strategies, successes and challenges of the Rwandan financial inclusion agenda, and also provide a forum for discussion on globally emerging practices and lessons as far as responsible financial inclusion is concerned. Progress in policy work, financial services provider practices, and client empowerment in areas such as digital finance, VSLAs, savings, etc. will be reviewed using the consumer protection lens, and the value add of consumer protection will be examined. The role of the different market actors will also be highlighted.
