Grants and Loans in Livelihood Restoration following a Natural Disaster

This brief focuses on the challenges and solutions to providing grants to microentrepreneurs in the wake of natural disaster. It provides guidelines for microgrants and examines some of the effects of combined grant-and-loan products on MFIs and their clients. The overarching recommendation is that there must be deliberate and close coordination between relief agencies and MFIs to ensure effective interaction between grant and loan products.b
