About the Event

This course aims to provide a classroom-based introduction to the various uses of cash transfers in livelihoods programming during emergency response and early recovery. This half-day course does not require previous knowledge of cash and voucher assistance (CVA) or livelihoods, as it provides an introduction to both. It targets any staff who are new to CVA, livelihoods practitioners, and those interested in livelihoods perspectives on emergency response. Both rural and urban livelihood strategies will be discussed.

This training will allow participants to:

• Understand the basic concepts of livelihoods programming including terminology and the importance of cash transfers as a tool to achieve livelihoods objectives
• Be aware of the different ways in which cash transfers can be used to achieve different objectives in livelihoods programming
• Be able to cite some key lessons learned using cash transfers to achieve livelihoods objectives

We are running the course in Washington, DC, USA on the morning of April 5, 2019. It is a face-to-face, classroom-based training, and it will not be possible to participate remotely. An e-learning focused on urban livelihoods based on this course is available for delivery via on-line learning at Kaya in English, Spanish, and French. You will need an account on Kaya to access these e-learnings.
