Call for Activities - Tipping the Scales: mobilizing the network for unlearning, learning and change

We’re thrilled to announce SEEP's upcoming series, Tipping the Scales: mobilizing the network for unlearning, learning and change. Over the course of the month of March, we will gather to disrupt current power dynamics in the global development sector. Through a series of introspective dialogues, peer learning, and change-generating activities, we aim to tip the scales for transformative change, not from the top-down, but from the inside out.

Our global practitioner community is ready to ask much-needed, uncomfortable questions with introspection and humility. We are ready to contribute collectively towards deconstructing, reimagining and forging development that is truly equitable and sustainable. Through mobilizing our network for honest reckoning, and by centering diverse voices in the discussion, we can collectively tip the scales for transformative change – not from the top-down, but from the inside out.

SEEP Associate members and Organizational members are invited to submit concepts for activities and are encouraged to:

  • collaborate with their donors, local staff, government, private sector and especially with your grassroots partners
  • invite and encourage the contribution of women, youth, local community leaders, people with disabilities, LGBTQA+ and other diverse voices
  • ensure their activity reflects one or more of SEEP’s core values & convening principles

When submitting your proposal, we hope to hear:

  • how your activity will speak to the theme, Tipping the Scales: mobilizing the network for unlearning, learning and change
  • which of the three interconnecting pathway(s) your activity will reach: Empathy & Unlearning; Sense-making & Learning, Ideation for Change
  • the technical practice area(s) of your activity (education, health, livelihoods, WASH, women's economic empowerment, etc.)
  • when you want to host your activity during the month of March (dates, times and time zones)
  • where your activity will be hosted (online platform, physical venue, hybrid)
  • the format for your activity (dialogue, discussion, design shop, webinar, meeting, workshop, etc.)
  • how you plan to promote the Tipping the Scales series and your activity to your audiences
