Explore the Women's Economic Empowerment Working Group
In order to shift gender norms, it is important to meaningfully include men in the conversation, but how do you move beyond engagement and towards behavior change? This webinar discussed technical best practices and promising approaches to promote men's participation in women's economic empowerment. The panelists highlighted specific approaches and methods being utilized by the SEEP Network and MenEngage Alliance members in the field, highlighting innovative tools, trainings, activities, and programming that promote male champions for women's economic empowerment.

Janvier Kubwinmana, CARE
Janvier Kubwimana is a development professional with 10 years of experience in development and health. Currently, as Project Manager of a NORAD-funded Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Project since 2013, he has successfully overseen diverse development and humanitarian interventions in roles as Project Manager, Gender Advisor, Program Coordinator, and a general practitioner within International Non-Governmental Organization, United Nation Agencies, and Government institutions. Janvier holds a Master of Arts in Development Studies.
Julio Langa, HOPEM
Anuj started his learning and work in microfinance during the formative years of Self-Help Group movement in India in the 1990s. He has worked with other microfinance models (including VSLAs in Africa), financial cooperatives, as well as commercial and external capital led financial services (MFIs, Banks), taking a financial system perspective. He started his work at PRIA and worked for nineteen years at CARE in different international positions. Currently, he is a Senior Fellow for Microfinance and Development at Coady Institute since 2010, where he teaches courses in community based microfinance, inclusive urban economies, partnerships in multi-stakeholder environment, foundation in development leadership, and markets facilitation. Anuj has an MBA degree with majors in Marketing and Finance.
Oswaldo Montoya, MenEngage Alliance Global Secretariat
Oswaldo Montoya works as a Network Associate for the MenEngage Alliance Global Secretariat, which is an international network dedicated to transform harmful masculinities and engage men and boys in gender justice by organizing men in partnership with women, advocating for progressive policies, campaigning and sharing information and resources. Oswaldo is one of the founders of the Men's Group against Violence in Nicaragua and a former Fulbright scholar, holding a Master's degree in Educational and Developmental Psychology from Boston College. For over twenty years he has served as a trainer, program manager, researcher, university teacher, consultant, and counselor engaging men and boys in gender equality work and promoting children's right to protection from all forms of violence. Oswaldo worked with Puntos de Encuentro, a Nicaraguan feminist organization, with EMERGE, a domestic violence program in the US and with Save the Children, promoting children's rights. He is the author of several publications and educational manuals and has contributed to successful educational campaigns, advocacy, training programs and alliances to work with boys and men.
