GenerationNOW

What is it? 

SEEP believes that we must tap into the shared expertise and experience
of emerging leaders, changemakers, and disruptors for a collaborative
ecosystem to work effectively and to empower newcomers in the field. 

GenerationNOW is a cohort for and by practitioners starting out in international development. The cohort removes the mentor from the equation and builds on the meaningful
relationships of peers whereby power is shared, resources are exchanged, and existing ideas, skills, and strengths are leveraged.

How does it work?

Connections

 The GenerationNOW cohort co-creates spaces to gather, connect, share experiences, and forge supportive relationships. Cohort gatherings may include monthly
meetups, office hours, drop-in chats, and shared learning experiences from ”speed dating” to master-classes.

Reservoir of Expertise   


The GenerationNOW cohort is a resource unto itself.  Each member of the cohort is an expert about something — from gender-sensitive programming to facilitation, metrics to blockchain and graphic
design to crafting the perfect tweet. The cohort supports each other to share their knowledge, exchange resources, and grow together.

Visibility & Opportunities   


We invest in the GenerationNOW cohort’s skills, promote their expertise
with our global network, and include its members in SEEP’s first roster of international development
practitioners. Members of the
cohort will be frequently highlighted across SEEP’s communications channels – newsletters, social media, Marketplace – and will have priority on leading network learning experiences.  

Who is eligible to apply? 

  • SEEP Organizational or Associate member (If you are not a member,
    apply to become an Associate or Organizational member    .)
  • New to the international development field
    • OR a young professional with less than 10 years of formal experience
    • OR a changemaker from an underrepresented group in the field
  • We encourage individuals from various backgrounds to apply and intend to address as many barriers to participation as possible.
          

Your commitment

  • This is a 1-year commitment.  
  • Participation in monthly cohort gatherings (Approximately 1-2 hours) 
  • Frequent contributions and interactions with the cohort on SEEP Connect – our online community and resource
    sharing platform.     
  • Join events designed to facilitate networking, relationship-building, and
    collaboration.     
  • For this first cohort, applicants should be comfortable in oral and written English as meetings will be conducted in this language.
    We intend to address     barriers to participation and will do our best to support
    cohort participants with on-line translation, as well as visual and audio accessibility tools, if required

The GenerationNOW program is only available for SEEP Associate and Organizational members. We are offering limited one-year Associate membership subscriptions, where you can access
all our benefits, one of them being the GenerationNow Cohort. To be considered for the membership subscription, you must (1) become a Basic member and (2) when filling out the application indicate that you are interested
in a free 1-year subscription.
