Lateral Learning Network Strengthening Project (LLNS)

Goal

The Lateral Learning Network Strengthening (LLNS) Project seeks to build strong, sustainable regional microfinance networks to deliver demand-driven services to country-level networks and their member microfinance institutions (MFIs) to enhance the capacity of MFIs operating in the microfinance sector.

Objectives

• Build capacity of two regional networks in their efforts to provide network-strengthening services to country-level networks.
• Deepen lateral learning between networks as a key strategy for network strengthening. LLNS will accomplish this goal through action research and peer-learning activities that develop and transfer knowledge on network best practices.

Components

• Network capacity assessments to provide customized institutional diagnostics and a baseline study that measures network institutional development over time.
• Network institutional strengthening services.
• Collaborative learning activities such as network working groups, global network summits, technical resource development and dissemination, and Web-based forums.

Network Participants

Sub-Saharan Africa: The African Microfinance Network (AFMIN)
Central America: Red Centroamericana de Microfinanzas (REDCAMIF)
